๐Ÿš€ Overview

AppNegar was a full mobile applications advertisement analytics and business intelligence dashboard provided to companies via B2B services. I designed the full end-to-end of the user experience from information architecture to final prototype to be developed.

๐Ÿ” The Problem

The main source of income for most Iranian application developers at the time was from advertisements. With new rising ad networks and industry growing more and more complex by the day, gathering proper business intelligence to make informed decisions about deals and agreements with ad networks was getting more and more complicated. What if we made a dashboard with the data they'd need, all in one place?

๐Ÿ’ก The Concept

There were some solutions available globally, there was nothing that even remotely covered the Iranian market and app stores. We started off by checking competitors on the international scene. AppAnnie was one of the main sites that provided similar intelligence to companies and teams launching on markets like Google Play Store.

๐ŸŽจ My Role and Process

As the product designer on the project, I was responsible for the entire UX and UI design process, from early concept definition to the final Adobe XD prototype. I also had minor contributions to the front-end development. My work included:

  • Mapping out key user flows and information architecture

  • Creating branding, color palette and UI components

  • Designing a clear and minimal desktop-first interface for fast, intuitive navigation

  • Wireframing & prototyping essential features, such as ad network tracking

  • Collaborating closely with product and potential end-users to refine interaction models based on goals and requirements

  • Developing some UI elements and part of the screens using Angular 6

๐Ÿ“ฑ Key Screens

  • Login/Signup: A simple login and signup page to access the dashboard

  • Onboarding: Comprehensive tourguide, explaining various features of the app

  • Main dashboard: All main intelligence including revenue and ranking all in one view

๐Ÿงช User Testing (Design Thinking: Test Phase)

I conducted a series of usability tests which appeared to be usable for our first target which were developers. At this point we also did realize that some of our texts may be too specialized and we may need a few info popups beside specific words.

โš ๏ธ Challenges and Constraints

The product was designed with a tight deadline for a quick MVP launch and testing with our potential end-users. Due to Adobe XD lacking the modern collaboration features at the time, we conducted tests manually. Another challenge to mention was how to make the app intuitive so it could be used by product teams as well with minimal requirement for guides, tours and on-boarding.

๐Ÿง  Key Takeaways

This project deepened my experience in designing for B2B services such as business intelligence and data dashboards. It also highlighted the importance of pre-launch testing and how it could create insights and an approximate pathway for future maturing and development of the product.

๐Ÿ“Œ Project Status

The product was fully launched and commercialized and is under different branding, serving companies and independent mobile application developers to make informed decisions regarding ad revenue.
